Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

The Epson WorkForce 1100 (WF-1100) is a large-format desktop printer capable of printing on stock up to 13" x 19". This new generation printer is a fast, cost-effective, energy-efficient, production-quality printer. When used with the ArTainium Bulk Ink System (BIS), the WF-1100 is capable of high capacity production of sublimation transfers. Below are some of the more common questions about the Epson WF- 1100 ArTainium Sublimation System.

Who should use the Epson WorkForce 1100 ArTainium Sublimation System

The Epson WF-1100 ArTainium Sublimation System is designed for customers who are currently
using an Epson WorkForce 30 printer and wish to make an easy and smooth transition to a larger
and newer printer. The WF-1100 is also an affordable system for new customers looking to start a
business or add sublimation to their product mix.

The large-format WorkForce 1100 solution is still lightweight and easily portable, making it a perfect
sublimation system for custom product designers who take their business directly to the customer,
operate mobile kiosks, or for businesses with limited space to spare.

Q. What is the major advantage of the Epson WorkForce 1100 ArTainium Sublimation System?
A. The Epson WF-1100 ArTainium Sublimation System is a reliable, fast and inexpensive sublimation
solution that offers both the cost-effectiveness of a bulk-ink system and a maintenance-free printer.

Q. How does the WF-1100 ArTainium ICC profile differ from the WF-1100 ICC profiles?
A. Sawgrass Technologies, a world leader in sublimation technology, has developed an ICC profile
that yields the best color output available for this printing technology.

Q. What is the ink configuration of the ArTainium WorkForce 1100 Sublimation system?
A. The ink configuration is KMCY (black, magenta, cyan and yellow). Because the original OEM
configuration uses five ink cartridges (two black), the Sawgrass EasyFlow® bulk-ink system (BIS)
employs a set of five ink dampers (cartridges) and four bulk ink bags. The black ink bag supplies
two of the dampers with black ink.

Q. What ink-delivery options are available?
A. Two options are available: (1) The EasyFlow bulk-ink system with its four 90-ml ink bags, and (2)
individual ink cartridges, sold in two-pack configurations.

Q. Why are ink cartridges sold as “two-pack”?
A. A two-pack configuration is a more efficient and cost-effective manner of delivering ink that has an
equivalent printing capability as the C88 ink-cartridge solution.

Q. Will I be able to use ArTainium WorkForce-30 ink-refill bags in the Epson WorkForce-1100
printer?

A. Yes. The ArTainium WF-30 and the ArTainium WF-1100 BIS use the same ink formulation and ink
bags.

Q. What paper sizes does the Epson WorkForce 1100 printer support”?
A. The Epson WF-1100 can print on paper stock up to 13 x 19 inches.

Q. What type of computer system will I need for optimum output?
A. A Pentium 4, 3.0 GHz or faster processor is recommended. The minimum recommended RAM
memory is 1 GB; more if you will be processing large, graphics-intensive, documents with high
quality settings. A 1GB RAM of free hard drive space is required for proper software operation and
file management.

Q. How are chips “reset” on the EasyFlow BIS?
A. Instructions on how to reset the bulk-ink system are available on Sawgrass’ website at
http://www.sawgrassink.com/v.php?pg=66. There is a bone-white reset button atop the damper
array that will need to be pressed.

Q. How often will the EasyFlow BIS have to be reset?
A. The chipset on the Epson WorkForce 1100 will require the bulk-ink system to be reset slightly more
often than bulk-ink systems used with Epson printer models prior to the WorkForce 30. The exact
frequency will depend upon the number of images printed, the size of the images, and the print
quality.
